Overflow drain size

It will be a 150 Gallon tank with 150 Gallon sump.

Return pump is a Reeflo Dart. (about 8 feet of head loss) Approx 2200 GPH

I'm using the Bean animal concept (3 drains ... 2 in use, 1 as emergency back up)

Will I need 2" Diameter bulkheads and pipe ? or ...

Will 1.5" be big enough?

Thanks

1 1/2 will be pleanty big enough for the bean animal do to the way it works. I have that overflow on a 40breeder and love it dead silent!

1.5" bulkheads would be more than enough. I'm not familiar with the Bean Animal overflow design (I've used Durso and Herbie designs), but 2" bulkheads take a lot more space and would be too much flow IMO.

LoJack,

What did you end up going with? I'm going to be doing a 150 build with coast to coasts overflow/BeanAnimal. Trying to decide if 1.5 or 1.0 is going to work for me. Also, how for below the top trim did you drill the holes for the bulkheads?
