Overflow Drain

Not sure if this question has been asked, I am a newbie and in the process now of designing a new tank, has anyone used this type of overflow?

And if so is it better than the typical overflow box? I would be using two of these with two drain bulkheads especially after viewing greg taylors excellent thread on sumps. Thx for all responses.:fish1:

If you're looking to maximize in-tank space, I'd suggest just doing an external overflow utilizing either Bean Animal or Herbie design.

FYI..There is nothing better than this 3 pipe setup (including a coast-coast overflow box)..

That looks interesting but this hobby has been around forever and if most hobbyist here are not using it, that speaks volumes in its own.

If you can do it, the BeanAnimal is safer with an additional failsafe. Both are silent when done properly.

Great Help, thank you shermanator, I haven't even gotten a tank yet and still have at least a couple more months of research, and of course there is always the cash issue:eek1: and most likely will be in the 60 possibly 75 gal range, I like the herbie design the best for those sizes, I think if I was going for a 125 the bean would be a better choice.
