Im just setting up my 38gal tank with a overflow box into a 20gal long sump/refu.. i have a mag 5 as my return...now the problem is that my overflow is making such a loud gulping/slirping noise, how do i get this to stop?? i have tried adjusting the overflow box in my display, but that did nothing.. Thanks!

Cutting back the flow into the tank may help. The only problem is you dont want to back the pump up with pressure. So you will also need to plum a relief back to the sump. Open the valve to the tank all the way and control the flow with the relief valve.

try some air line tubing down the center of the pipe with a few inches sticking out this should help.

The air line is the easies way. put about 1 foot of air line into overflows out line and slowly pull it out about a 1/2" at a time untill the sound has stopped then wait to see if it worked. This can take a little time to find the right spot.

ok ill try the airline tube once i set my tank up in my new house,i was just doing a dry run with fresh water...hmm i wonder if not using saltwater matters??
