Overflow Problems....External Durso.

I am haveing a real problem making my new 33gal overflow quiet. It was drilled about 2" from the top of the tank and an overflow box glued around it. I have the Durso attached behind the tank and the tubing running straight down into the sump. I have tried all different sizes of holes in the top plug, and am still getting a flushing sound every 2 minutes. Can anyone think of something to help me out here?

Are you getting back pressure where the overflow meets the sump water? If it's too deep, air can get trapped and the 2 minute flush could be what's happening when the pocket breaks. You can try a reverse Durso where the overflow meets the sump.

Cliff, are you saying to put a durso at the top of the sump. Maybe put a piece of pvc into the sump and connect a "T" at the top with an elbow going up to the vinyl tubing. Would you drill a hole in the top of the "T"?

Todd, did you drill the hose going into the sump? The air is getting trapped and needs to escape easier...

Eric, yes I drilled several holes and it didn't help. However this afternoon I did add a strainer to the overflow and changed the diameter of my hole and things have quieted consideably. I dialed down the return pump a little also. Thanks for the replys guys.
