Overflow/sump question

Hi Gang,

I recently acquired a 150 gallon set up that was the "score" of my 25 year aquarium experience.
Anyway, the tank is a 6 footer with overflows on both ends with Durso stand pipes. The return pumps are dual Mag Drive 9.5, one feeding each return line on each end of the tank. Needless to say, I feel that this is way too much flow through the refugium. It is fairly loud and I have this in my wifes office.

Currently both drain hoses come into one end of the sump, then flow into the refugium and then into the skimmer/return pump area. I am thinking about taking one of the drain lines and having it dump directly into the skimmer/return pump section. Other than this water not flowing through the refugium, does anyone see an issue with this?
I am hoping that by doing this, it will quiet down the water that is spilling over the refugium baffle into the return pump section.

Any help is appreciated.

I doubt the refugium processes 100% of the water passing through it so I don't see any issue with moving one of the drains. Depending on your sump, 1 drain might still cause a lot of noise over the baffle. Might want others to confirm but having a split herbie drain could reduce noise from tank even more. Move one drain to the skimmer/return section. Set that drain as the full siphon.(aprox 1000gph) Then leave your durso drain going through the refugium. (dual mag9.5 is 1500gph with head loss, subract 1000gph full siphon, leaves 500gph through refugium)
