Overflowing Nano Tank FS

This tank was built six months ago and has been sitting in my basement empty ever since (I'm sure many of you have seen it thats come over) When I first got it I put water in it and ran it but never ended up buying lights for it so it's just been sitting since.

The tank is custom made with 3/4" acrylic brace-less with round corners. It overflows out the top and trickles down the sides of the tank into the trey which then feeds into the sump. So in essence the tank is overflowing. It has 3 bulkheads... 2x 1" bulkhead drains and 1x 3/4" return. The tank is about 11.5 gallons

The stand is made out of solid black 1/4" material with the front two corners heated and rounded, So it one piece with no seems. The only access hole for it is in the back so the there are no doors. The idea behind it is that you can just run all the hoses thru a hole in the wall to the next room that has the sump. In my case I had a sump from my other tank in the next room so that is where it sat. It makes for a very clean look. The base of the stand is made out of 1/2 black material and so is the trey section that holds the water. I suppose you could put a sump down below but it would probably be more of a pain in the butt to access it.

the tank and the stand are in MINT condition! absolutely no scratches or blemishes on either of them.

From my couple days running it I did notice a few things. It made noise like a gurgling overflow. The tray area is too small to put a standpipe in so maybe putting a ball valve to reduce the noise. I didn't really mess with it too much but it was louder than I liked since it was right next to my computer desk, It's also a little loud from the trickling of water. Another thing I noticed was the water didn't completely cover all four sides of the tank. After doing some research I found that it needed to develop a coat and then it would start to cover all sides. In any case it did not do it after the couple days it was running, I didn't have lights over it so maybe that had something to do with it, or maybe it wasn't completely level I'm not sure. I suppose in worst case senerio you could just put a hang on skimmer and bypass the overflow completely or whatever.

Here are pictures of what it looks like... It seriously looks like a piece of art, The pictures do it no justice, (hard to take pictures of black acrylic with flash.

I'm asking $375 (entertain offers) for it which is way less than what I paid for it. I'll also include
-slightly used Mag 9.5 with true union ball valve,
- Live rock. I have about #50 lbs. of live rock you are more than welcome to cherry pic the pieces you need to fill up the tank I'm guessing around #20lbs.
-2x 6ft section of 1" hose for the drains

That is awesome! Would there be anyway to make it a self contained unit if you didnt have a behind the way sump?

You probably could if you had it out out from the wall a little ways or if you didn't use the overflow option and just put a hang on back deal with skimmer and heater.

Here is a pic showing the size of the entire setup, my daughter is 4.5 y/o

did pets playhouse in cedar rapids, have something kinda like this last year? It would be sweet to have in any office or waiting room, alothough i think too many people would be sticking their hands in the tank

Yeah, I had the tank stand built a little taller than normal to try to keep little fingers from touching it. Although looking at the pic It's still not tall enough.

So if the water is running down the outside of the tank, doesnt that distort your view of the contents?

It's not suppose to distort the view. They have tanks like this commercially, They are called Zero Edge tanks and people say they don't distort and are cool to look at.

The water didn't run down all sides evenly, They say it has to make a coat or something before it evens out on all sides. I originally only ran a Eheim 1250 I believe and i don't think it was powerfull enough for it. Thats why I included a Mag 9.5 with a gate valve. I haven't tried it with the mag pump so I'm not sure if it's good enough for it but I imagine it would work.

Also they tank has to be perfectly level which is another pain, but I'm sure some little shims under the tank would help.

Like I said I never had it running for more than two days so I'm not sure how great it works, which is one of the reasons I'm selling it for so much cheaper than what I paid for it.

I'm thinking I've seen this concept in a doctor's office somewhere now that you mention it. I don't recall the level of clarity but it was a cool effect.

$325 with Live rock, 9.5 mag pump, hoses, and I will throw in 5 frags

It's the absolute lowest I can go. If It doesn't sell I suppose I can use it as a quarantine tank :(

I saw plenty of the zeroedge tanks on a trip through some of the chicago-area LFSs. It doesn't distort the view.

I built a glass fountain for a family member one time, where the water is pumped up through a glass sphere and exits through the top, pouring over all of the outside, and from that I can say that all you have to do is take your hand and wipe water from where it's running down the sides into any areas where it is not running down the sides and just getting it wet will keep water running through all areas. That is, assuming there's enough flow, and it sounds like that's one base he's covered.

you should bring out some pictures and list the stuff youre including and maybe someone that isnt on the forum would buy it? i dont know if you are comming or how big of a hassle it is to move but if you brought it along.... theres a chance someone might want it from out of state or something?

just an idea.. oddly enough there dont seem to be ALOT of people on THIS part of the forum.

I wish I could make it to the frag auction but I have to work that day. definitely a good idea non the less.

ok, idea #2-

if you can talk to someone whos getting a table into letting you have a peice of paper with the info on it.. i will print the pictures and information and bring it and sit it on their table...
