Overheating pump question

Hi I'm Mike, I'm new around here and to the hobby. I purchased a second hand 150 gal tall it's a fowlr setup. The tank wasn't taking care of very well (high nitrates, phosphates and low pH) needless to say I just got that under control after a good cleaning of the sump and dosing. Now the pump (Little Giant 4-MDQX-SC) is overheating and had my temp go over 82 F I turned the pump off for now and have my power heads running. Any idea of what's causing it to overheat or how to fix my problem. Thanks in advance

Hello and welcome! One possibility is the pump is working too hard. How far is it pumping? It could also be full of deposit and clogged, assuming you didn't clean it.

Also, what's your tank's usual temp? Pumps do add a bit of heat.

I didn't clean the actual pump kinda rinsed it out best I could. It's been between 78.6 an 80.4 for the last 3 months. Is there a maintenance u need to do on these pumps I didn't get manual or any information on it when I got it.
