Ok so I have the remora skimmer on my 29 long with a 20 gal sump. Dont really like the skimmer. I have the chance to get a Deltec MCE600 for around 300. Is this over kill on my tank ? Can you skim to much ?
I am getting mixed messages about this. How can you skim to much?
I will be upgrade in the future and thought It would be better to get a skimmer that I can use down the road too.

imo, there is no such thing as a skimmer that is too big, however it all depends on the animals you keep... agian, imo... sps like very very little to no nutrients, where as lps and softies like a more "dirty" water sorta speak... the larger, more effective the skimmer, the more it will pull... personally, i like "overkill" with my equipment anytime i can get it... hence a 300g rated dual pump skimmer on my 75g fowlr :)

I'm having issues of my SPS having nothing to eat because I have a 200 gallon rated Skimmer on my 90. I've had to keep getting more and more fish. And now my SPS is starting to do better. Still can't get any phosphate or nitrate readings above 0.

i understand that side of it too... i have a tunze skimmer rated for 60g's on my 40 coral tank... i used to have the larger skimmer on this system... however, now i also use oyster feast and phyto feast regularly after the lights go ot a couple times a week... this is an option for you i would think... my corals seem to like the osyter feast alot...

I'm trying out reef chili. I mix it in with my food 1-2 times a week.
