overskimming

Well, I am about to conduct an unscientific experiment on "overskimming." I just set up a 29g display with a 15g sump filled to about 10g. In the sump? The 225g superskimmer. I am only going to maintain alk/calcium and do weekly water change. SPS. Will keep you updated.

OK...well since you volunteered... :)

First I"ll say I applaud anyone's efforts to further our understanding of the science we call reefkeeping, so kudos for even taking hte time and effort to proceed.

Having said that a few things come to mind that are hopefully questions that can be answered ahead of time so that any contrarians out there might be quieted by addressing them up front. :)

What are you measuring to provide feedback on "overskimming"?
Is that which is being measured also being measured on a control system?
What organisms will define as being benefited or negatively affected by overskimming (ie sps, lps, pods)
Wet skimmate or dry?

I suppose the list goes on......
Please don't read this as discouraging, just trying to help clarify some of the parameters to make your results more useable!
Cheers!
Steve
