Owning a Magnificent Foxface (Siganus magnificus)

I have the opportunity to get one of these fish. I'd like to know what people's experiences have been with this particular type of foxface. Mention your set up as far as corals and inverts etc. I've heard they can nip a different types of corals.

They do look cool. Do they live up to the reputation of making snacks out of corals?

I have one and hes a model citizen. Really cool when he camoflagues himself too.

I loved mine it really was a cool fish until he started destroying my acans. Really miss watching him though. Used to eat out of my hands. Had him for a little over 2 years before he started munching on them.

Had one for about 2 1/2 years, same as above,mine started destroying acans within a couple months. decided to keep him and sell off the remaining LPS

Around what size was your fish when you bought it and what size were they when it started to go aggro on your acans?

How long did you have yours for?

I've had one for three years, hasn't nipped at anything - mushrooms, zoas, goniopora, polyps of various sorts, derasa clam.

Around what size was your fish when you bought it and what size were they when it started to go aggro on your acans?

mine was around 3 inches when i got him. same size when he started munching acans.

I correct myself, meant to save ive kept him for 2 1/2 yrs. (not had, hes still going strong) and is probably about 6 inches.

Once they realize you'll be addding food daily they'll stop the coral eating IME...my orange spotted went through acans, zoas and tips of sps till about 2-3 mos in.
