Oxymonacanthus longirostris pair enters a mixed reef environment

My female just seems excited to see both newcomers.

All three eating roe. The newcomers are not eating vigorously yet.

All three are eating roe but the two newbies are pretty pooky about it. The two females are jockeying for position a bit but no aggression. We'll see how this goes.

I have ordered a pair too, have to see when I get them...

What roe are you using? Is it fish or lobster eggs?
Seems to me, that your fishes ate from the water column right away, huh? That's fantastic! I wish mine would do that too...

Oui.

My new pair are eating more vigorously but only nutramar ova prawn roe. I did soak some pellets in roe juice and saw both newbies eat a little. Established female eats roe, cyclops, mysis, nls pellets, sustainable aquatics pellets, prime reef flakes and frozen formula one.

Good news, Paul. I continue to be amazed at what these fish will eat once they're acclimated. Mine pick at nori now, in addition to frozen foods, pellets and, occasionally, flake food.

Oof! That male was god awful skinny!

It's awesome to see them all together.

Mine hated Nutramar Ova. They loved the Rod's Fish eggs, but that stuff isn't easy to come by.

Update. New female eats like a pig. Male pretty much only eats roe. His eating is increasing in vigor. Hopefully it will be fast enough. I think he's gained a tiiiiiiiny bit of weight. But it's nominal. Existing female is thriving. Shes definitely a third wheel. But it's just a little chasing. All three are generally together but the new pair s more together.

How are you guys going about training them to eat the Ova? I have tried just thawing it out and dumping half on one side of the tank to distract the other fish and then using a turkey baster to get the other half near the OSF. No luck so far. But he is very fat and picking on my sps

Mine would eat anything that would fit in his mouth. When I first added the ova he went for it straight away. Sometimes it helps if they see other fish eating it - let's 'em know it's food.

MY OSFF is so aggressive, just bought a honeycomb toby today and it is smaller than the OSFF pair, they started to attack it once in the tank.. The eye, the tail , the fins.. Have to cage up the toby to stop the attacking.. Does it means they are healthy enough to go into the main tank? Been in my QT for weeks and eating like a pig... Just worried as the main tank is several times bigger than the QT...

Sigh, my male suddenly flip and got problem staying up right.. always on its belly upside down.. I guess it wont make it. The female is still happily eating.
