Oyster Question

Hey Everyone,

There is a significant amount of halimeda growth around my oyster that is encrusted in live rock. The halimeda is covering his opening and i haven't seen him open up much lately. Will the oyster be able to filter feed with all of the halimeda around him...or can it adjust itself and move so that it's opening is away from the halimeda?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Depends on the type of oyster whether it moves or not. Why not go ahead and trim the algae so you don't have to worry.

Good call. I think i will.

Thanks a bunch.

I believe it is of the chamae family...i think.

He was a hitchhicker and i have not done much research outside of feeding and water conditions.
