OzarksReef Rimless Cube Build Thread

Might want to get some RTV-108 Silicone. It is a great glass silicone, and is black.

My only hesitation would be that is may or may not bond plastic to glass. I think you would be happier with a black silicone, though.

Another thought would be to have the company send you a tube of silicone - it is their fault anyways.

Very nice tank David - I'm eagerly awaiting you getting this up and running. It will be very stunning, I'm sure of that!

Any plans to upgrade the light? A 400w in a lumenarc would look pretty good :)

I'm hoping that the since the back and overflow box are both black, the clear silicone will blend in well. I've used silicone on tanks before - definitely a challenge to keep it neat. We'll see!

flamron - I've already got a Geissman Nep-Tune Pro fixture on order. It's a 250 HQI with T5 supplements. The stock light will go over my frag tank...

While we're waiting for the overflow install - here's my initial fish stocking plans:

Two Barlett's Anthias

One Lyretail Anthias (maybe add a male later)

And of course my Naso Tang

 Alright, the Naso's gotta go...

What bulb do you plan on putting in?

I've been looking at the EVC line. I'm considering running the 10k EVC and supplementing with 4x110W Super Actinics VHO.

Otherwise, I will likely go with XM, as I've been a fan of their bulbs for a while.

Also, do you still have the Naso? If so what are your plans for it? I may have a 130 he could inhabit if he isn't too big :)

My old overflow was done with clear silicone on black acrylic and it stuck out like a sore thumb...not the neatest job, but i think in any casy the "clear" becomes a cloudy translucent...so it shows almost white unfortunately.

Ronnie - I'm going to start with the XM 15K - I like the spectrum to lean on the blue side. With 4 actinic VHO's on yours, you should have plenty of blue to supplement the 10K halide. The Naso already has a new home - one of the local guys picked him up. I'm sure he wouldn't have mineded a 130 though!

Eric - I see what you mean on the silicone. I definitely want a clean look - if the clear doesn't do it for me, pulling it out and re-doing wouldn't be too bad.

I cherry-picked some of my favorite corals for this new setup - here's a sampling of what will be moving in :)

Water is in! I got the tank plumbed, filled with water, and have begun to move over the livestock. For now, I'm using the stock 150-watt CAD light. I have ordered the Geisemann Nep-Tune Pro (250-watt) and will be using that for the display and the 150 will go over my prop system.

I had to modify the stock durso plumbing that came with the system - no problem with some parts for HD. Here's a few updated pics:

Another shot with Actinics on:

I received the new Geisemann fixture and have plumbed in a 40-breeder as a frag/prop system. Updated pics coming soon...

The Geisemann Light is in! I installed it with the hanging kit and changed the stock Ushio 10K bulb to an XM 15K. I think I'd like to go with a Radium next time around ... love that BLUE! :smokin:

Good news - I think my Bartlett's is morphing into its male colors! I added a smaller female, and the one I had originally has brightened in color and is showing the high fin characteristic of the male.

Did you decide to use the cadlights sump or did you go another route. I'm waiting for my tank to be delivered however I didn't order a sump with it. I want to physically have the stand in front of me before I entertain sump options. I have a BK mini 160 that I'm also hoping to use on this tank.

Seayu - Good call on the sump. I ended plumbing mine through the wall to a 40-breeder for the sump. The stock sump is very small - pretty much tailor-made for their little bubble-magus skimmer.
