i bought a used one. how do i tell if it works properly

What brand did you get ?

Take a sniff of the output line and see if you smell an odd oder.

You must use an air pump for this.

red sea i bought it took it out of box and heard parts rattiling around inside. thanks i will see if i smell an oder

I haven't used my Red Sea for awhile, but I do not recall hearing parts rattling inside. :eek2:

how strong is the odor i ran it for two minutes at 100 mg with air pump did not smell anything

It's pretty strong. Kind of a sweet smell or like the smell of air near a close lightning strike.

Dont listen to billy !!, DO NOT stay outside on a thunderstorm waiting for the nearest lightning strike, and be sniffing the air like a bloodhound !!! He also told me the same thing, and I got struck by lightning........survived by a miracle...mama mia !!! !!!
