1st part of the package is in the tank.
I am finding the hardest thing is to go to work and not sit and watch the tank all day.
I found 3 Mantis Shrimp and 1 gorilla crab. I think that the shrimp enjoyed the crab for a snack.
Has everyone found that your protien skimmer went nutz when you first turned it on after the 4 hour wait time? It is foaming like no other. I guess it is wait and see.
The other question I guess is the snails that came in with the rock, are those welk snails?
Question 3, is 0.50 amonia normal post installation 20hrs ?
I will start uploading pictures tomorrow.
I hope everyone is well,

Steve

more than likely they are welks. I dont even bother trying to remove them because I keep finding babies all the time and they are not doing any harm to the tank that I can see. I still havent found my mantis. I keep hearing him click and its been 8 months now.

Can't wait for the pics! I really enjoy seeing everyone's tanks.

After I placed my 1st shipment of rock, yes, the protein skimmer began removing alot of stuff. It still does but it has slowed to where I only need to clean out the collection cup every other day.

Like scowiii mentioned, the snails are probably whelks. I got them too along with a few turbos. Whelks resemble a small conch. I too have just left the snails in the tank.

.5 on the ammonia test is what my tank ran for the first 2 days. I did a 15 gallon water change from my 90 gallon tank every 4 days or so and that kept ammonia to ~.25 ppm. I has now been 10 days since part 1 was installed and ammonia is well below .25 ppm. Looks like in another 3 or 4 days from now, ammonia will be 0 and I can order up part 2 :)

Richard recommends a water change if ammonia exceeds 1.0 ppm.

If you all would like to see the pictures you can see them in SPeter Gallery for now. When I get back from diving in Playa Del Carmen, I promise that I will get them posted.
I hope you all have a great week.

Steve
