Padova's 360 view 650 gallon system reef tank from miracle canada

I am a Flooring Installer by trade, and cutting holes in your wood floor is pretty common and if you ever go another route just pay someone to fix floor. It will prob cost about 200bucks. If they are good you will never have known there was a hole in the floor. I would highly recommend running a dehumidifer constantly, that excessive moisture from large tanks can cause your wood floors to do some undesirable cupping , wharping. But if you control the moisture content to stay consistent then you will not have any problems

got a question if his floor is solid hardwood how can hole be fixed?? isnt all hardwood tung and groove click on system and the hardwood nailed onto the plywood underneath?
btw nice tank love it in the middle or room. but u mite want to consider the filter socks tat in ur sump. the way u have a piece of glass on top holding the sock if the socks get filled and clogged u mite have a flood in ur basement. should probably move the glass lower inside sump so if or when does clog water will go bak into sump

I agree on the powerheads, would not be a very clean for a 360 view tank. With just one on each side pointing towards the outside I'm not sure the flow will be very good along the two long lengths of glass. Time will tell and you'll see once you have the water and powerheads. Keep us posted:)

i agree, already had a small issue with the pipes being a little too long in the socks, therefore causing a little back pressure and letting a little flow out on the plexiglass...

as for heaters, i think im going to order 3 300 wt jager's.... that should do the trick.. i may need a 4th.. then hopefully get my hands on an apex controller

just got a flip video... here are some quick ones i took to get a much better idea of the system:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmwHPmwu-Eg (display tank)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOXlH3k1NnQ (top view)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9rIYC8eqbw (filtration/sump)

so... I need a cover for my over flow box, probably a screen for fish not to jump... (will upgrade to LED in the future)

I need to somehow install the unions where the socks are under water.. They create way too much splash, that the reason for the shirt and styrofoam i place up there.. Bio balls will be gone soon.. cheato added and so on.

Thanks for the vids padova. Such a clean job on the equipment and plumbing and am so ready to move so I can purchase a new house next summer and start my big tank project. I was thinking about doing a penisula but this has inspired me should the layout be available to do something similar. I'm thinking the center tower could be disguised as rock though...Maybe ceramic plates fired with a nice rock look or a combination of epoxy/rocks which you could mount frags to! Good luck and keep the pictures coming on progress.

yes, the overflow box will be covered with sps in time.. I was going to cover in that foam stuff, but the sps will work...

I did not design the plumbing myself... I designed how i wanted the tank to be (sizes and what not) and the tanks in the basement... I wish I would have done it all myself because there are a lot of issues I have to now fix which should not be... not to mention I could have saved a lot more money

So a lot more work for me to do:mad:

Added 3 fish on saturday, My clown , chromis and a midas blennie.. All doing well.. I put a coupke ricordia frags and zoanthis frags as well... Lighting (t5s) are not the correct color.. They should be blue, another mistake I have to take care of

I really am terrible at these pics... Im hoping to do a big water change soon, then add a few sps pieces and fish after they are qt'd of course)

I have to:
re support the stand
add more rock to the sump
Add cheato/light/sand
fix filter socks
take out bio balls
add to ball valves for emergency shut off
fix my slop sink which worker broke (purple epoxy was found in the pump and shorted it somehow)
Cover the stand in some kind of stone(to be done late winter/spring)

Very nice tank and setup  I don't think my wife would let me cut through our hardwood floors which is why my reef is in the basement. Thanks for sharing!

I hear ya! I actually always did freshwater, then at 21 I decided to surprise her w/ a clownfish pair and from there it took off! She loves it!

Really like your tank, very clean, and the pictures are incredible.

Quick question, I read you bought 3 Jager 300Watt heaters, are these enough? and, are you happy with them?

thanks

I've been wanting to buy a blenny and can say I've found the one I like now. Thanks for the amazing shot of that Midas Blenny;)

It is kind of hard to explain, but if you (YouTube it) it will make some more sense. I wish I had a better reply.

Thank you! Well as far as the heaters I researched on them for like 6 hrs... Everyone has problems w all heaters, and the jagers came up the best.. I wish they made more than the 300 watt ones.. My temp is at 78-79, and thats with them set at 87-90 each... I also have a no name titanium one with a controller on it... So I;ll most likely get another jager.. keep in mind the sump/fuge is in the basement where it is much colder.. I should check the temp down there!
