Padova's 360 view 650 gallon system reef tank from miracle canada

ceramic weir covers

ceramic weir covers

Here is a pic of the ceramic weir plates you can get, as you can see they are quite 3d and have lots of ledges for adding corals. but their back face is completely flat.

If you want to build an actual rock wall then I would certainly look into using Epo Putty, if you look at Chingchais and Peter's (nineballs) threads you will be able to see how strong it is.
Maybe the rocks wouldnt need to be fixed to the wier?...if you started at the base and fixed the rocks to each other around the wier it would be very solid.

yeah ive done rock attached to pvc pipe with epoxy made for corals. like aquastix. but that would cost too much for that wall. get somethin similar like the epo putty

thats some great info.. Thanx guys!
I have been looking at purchasing some of these walls but they charge crazy amounts of $$$ in 2 weeks I have break and I will most likely make them by hand.. I think I can probably do a good job.... I hate seeing that box!
BTW: the 2 islands I have now are hollow and fish swim/sleep in there and provide lots of hiding space

okay, so i decided on just jb welding more figi style rock around the overflow box.. IMO it will look much better and more hiding spaces for the fish...

I recently added a powder brown and a powder blue, they swim together and all! I hope it stays that way!

ill have more right after the rock work goes in.. 12 tangs, no problems, except for the purple tang chasing 1 of my 3 yellow tangs in a cave soon as he even attempts to swim.. (how does he know them apart?lol)

I have had many purples all were very docile, this one is very aggressive... you never know!

Ok so finally after 20+ hrs of sculpting/hammering rock and 10 packs of jb weld I managed to cover both long sides of the center over flow box.. I like it much better than the other options.. It has real caves for the fish with a real 3d effect...
I did not cover the the entire box to the top because I will be placing sps on the highest rocks... The sides are not covered because the light hits them well and thats where I plan to grow caps.

These are two videos showing the work and the fish/some corals... Its really coming along! Thanx for everyones help! And If anyone knows where I could get a good price on a pair of wyoming whites, pm me!

Tangs have always been a favorite of mine. That tank looks great with all those Tangs in there. Glad they are getting along well. The trigger is nice, too. Does he get along well with everything else? Any issues with the inverts?

Thanx! No, no issues at all with the trigger..He's actually very timid. The tangs do chase each other around once in a while but nothing crazy.. I do feed 8+ times a day to try and keep aggression down.

Fantastic selection of fish. That crosshatch is unreal....I definitely NEED one someday after seeing that one swimming.

I look forward to seeing how well the tangs handle one another in the coming months...I think high flow and lots of feedings will definitely help you out as you mentioned.

thank you, same here, no idea if i will still be lucky, i was very cautious when introducing

What a nice collection of fish... Very impresive. Looking forward to see more from this exciting setup

yes! ive been adding corals (a lot of sps) almost weekly... It has changed a lot.. I am really happy with my tank and did a lot of rock work myself w my father..

I sometimes get hesitant to get pix up because they just do do any justice,, Im going to have a buddy come over the knows how to shoot well under leds... The colors are truly amazing... very happy thus far.. still need to get the furniture finished!

i actually added about 20 sps frags last night,, 4 hours of gluing!

:fish2:Congrats on this tank! You've really come along so nicely with the whole set-up, very impressive.
I know the challenges of the walk-around tank (mine has 2 overflows) but it really does become a wonderful focal point of your lovely home.
Best of luck with the corals and fish...they all look healthy - Lisa

thank you! yes i loved your tank thats where i got my idea from... i will try to get better pix soon as its mostly complete... I do love being able to see it during all my meals and when watching tv as well...

I had the same tank before I sold it. I was curious at the time how to aquascape. You have done a great job and your fish selection is impressive. Two questions. When did you change to LEDs? I also like the newer aquascape from the previous two. When did you decide to do that also.

Thank you!

I switched over to LEDS after much research on RC.. I really love the ai sols and i have a couple other reefers that use them and they are just insane.. the only thing i need top learn is how to take better pics. I think i switched over after about a year of mh lighting.. But basically everything in the tank has grown under the leds.. after sandy i kinda started my corals over since my skimmer went.. I then could not replace it in time since i was over seas. I did recently put them higher above the water about 14 inches now.. i really think i could go to 20 inches w no trouble at all.. i have colorful sps on my sand bed.

I also decided to re aquascape because i was trying to convince myself that i was happy... I was no where near happy and i was always asking good friends if they thought i should re do it.. they all said no.. but also said that i was going to re aquascape it since i always asked them...

i have to tell you the truth.. it really wasnt that bad doing it over and i actually had rock left over.. I plan on adding a few more branches to the main 2 island to add more sps
