Here is a picture of my pagoda coral.

It was doing quite well for a while. In the past couple of weeks its polyps have not been extending well. My water parameters check out good. Any thoughts on what might be the issue. Some days it is better than others. When the polyps do extend it is not for long periods of time.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I should mention that it sits in the top 1/4 of the tank and I am running 2x150W metal halides and 2x96W true blue actinics.

Have you tried putting it a little lower in the tank. I have three T. Peltatas, and they seem to love bright light, but I don't know if that's always the case. One of mine is about 2/3 the way towards the bottom under 4xT5, and it's just as happy as the others, so they seem to do well in pretty moderate lighting as well. How are your calcium and alkalinity levels? What about the rest of your water parameters for that matter?

It varies, but most that I have had experience with are very tolerant of lighting regimes. If you acquired an individual with an already receding line of tissue, it usually progresses to the rest of the coral, IME. The symptoms you are experiencing are similar to the beginning stages of what I described, though it may be unrelated.

have you dosed any magnesium additives recently, pagodas are quite sensitive to chemical changes, if so it may be in shock

I have not dosed magnesium, but I did have to raise the ph and calcium some over the last couple of weeks. When I tried to raise the ph it increased the alkalinity. I have been allowing the alk to drop over the past few days. Things are stable now. Shock is better than death, maybe it will recover.

mines went like yours for 2 weeks, polyps never out, in fact you could hardly see the polyps, i thought it was dead, but slowly over a course of a week the polyps starting coming out again a little more each day.
And now its back to its former glory

hang on in there

mine does the same thing, I think is normal. One day out, the next closed.??? I have mine for about 3 - 4 months.

I did a water change yesterday. The pagoda loved it. It seems to be doing better. I have not had to make any major calcium changes recently and the alkalinity should be doing much better. I will check tomorrow evening.
