Paint Stripper

What kind of paint stripper do you DIY'ers recommend for stripping old paint off of a stand?

So many different methods, i just dont know which way to go.

Brush on?

Aerosol?

Spray on?

i just refinished some wood work in my house. i used some orange stuff from lowes. i forgot what it is called. it works great brush it on and let it sit for a little bit and the paint just scrapes off and you do not have to worry about getting it on your hand and the fumes are not bad. smells like oranges.
