Painting drains and returns

I'm thinking of spray painting my returns and drains with black spray paint any suggestions on what type of paint someone suggested epoxy that won't leach into tank

Home Depot sells cans of spray paint especially designed for plastics. I've used it outdoors to paint PVC pipe used for drainage. It's excellent - it's 8 years old & looks as good as the day I applied it. It's from a major brand. I can't remember if it's Rust-Oleum or Krylon.

I have no idea about possible leaching question however. You might see if you can get your hands on the data sheet.

This is safe.

The paint I used might have been that Kylon. It doesn't chip for me. I run string trimmers near it, sun, rain, snow ice no problem. I think you would have to work at it to beat it up, especially in an aquarium application. It has good adhesion. Unless you're taking things apart all the time.

But it's good to know about the black product. I'd definitely use that in a new build. I was assuming the OP wanted to paint pipe already in place.

Krylon fusion, have used it for years and it's on my overflow plumbing right now.
If you prep properly, clean parts, scuff w/ 220 grit, it will not chip.
