Painting PVC

So I was thinking that I'm going to need to add a 90 degree PVC elbow to my drain in the new tank so I can keep the water level a bit higher. I was wondering if there was some black spray paint or any type of paint that can be used to do so without harming any tank inhabitants in the future?

Or is there some where I can purchase black PVC plumbing?

I don't know of a reef safe paint, or black PVC. I know you can get grey PVC, but I'd probably just count on coralline algae to cover up plain ol white PVC.

I asked the same question. Answer is yes you can there's to company's that carry paint that you can you to paint PVC but you most let it cure for at least a 2-3 weeks Lowe's has Valspar PVC paint and Home depot and walmart has Krylon fusion paint.

I had painted PVC with the Krylon and over period of year it all came off. No ill effects in tank but it was bcak to white.

Yeah.. I know its going to get covered by coraline. Thats part of the reason I'm still debating.

I actually read a published scientific academic article from my school's online library about the rate at which coraline algae grows on dark/black surfaces.

And the study actually found that coraline grows faster on darker surfaces.

Also... kinda related - ocellaris/percula clownfish actually become a brighter orange when placed in an aquarium with a black background.

Gotta look for the article again... but it came up when I was doing my research paper on bio-luminescence in the marine world for my marine ecology class.

I think I'm just going to use a white 90 degree elbow for my drain. I was thinking about an overflow kit with the teeth and fancy schmancy stuff but they all seem pretty expensive.

Anyone know of any cheap overflow kits for back drilled tanks?

I looked up ultralife.. it seems like the overflow that is used when you don't want to drill a hole into the back or bottom of your tank.

I need one like this..

yea y not? its looks like that one only its a bit taller. if u want a spesific type i could just make u one. u could got coast to coast even.
