Painting tank Background

I want to paint my tank black and roll it on. Is there any particular paint i should get? Eggshell, satin, gloss, semi gloss, matte. Any particular brand that works better for glass?

Most of you major craft stores (Micheals, Hobby Lobby, etc.) sells glass paint... I am sure it is not as inexpensive as like Homer, etc, but it is made for glass applications... Personally if this is going to be your DT, I would not go with something that was not made for the application, because reapplication could be a PITA once it is set up and running... :)

I used latex. If I ever want it off, it peels off in a big sheet. Doesn't matter what finish you buy, you look at it through the glass so it looks like gloss.

The gila window tint film that you can get at home depot, lowes, etc. works really well too. They have one that is very black and lets hardly any light through. Not that it matters a whole lot, but to me it's a little more clean looking than just painting the glass.

I had not even thought about tint but that is a very good recommendation!!!

I am a paint contractor. I may not know jack about fish, but I know paint. I have done flat too, honestly, your best bet is an eggshell or low sheen enamel. You can roll it on in about 4 coats, and if you don't like it, it peels off the easiest.
You can go to Lowes and tell them you want a Sherwin Williams samples quart. For $5 they will tint whatever color you want and you will have enough for 20 tanks. Hobby store will run you almost that for 1\2 the amount.
I've done black, but consider a very dark blue.
Your tank, just thought I'd throw that in.

I also did blue. Made the tank a lot brighter. But black does contrast nice. Personal preference I guess

Here's an old pic of my 75 with plastic dip painted back

Krylon Fusion in your choice of color on well cleaned glass works very well. Available at your favorite Big Box.
