pair of black ocellaris, host anemone suggestions

My tank is a 36X24X24 all glass (90 g) with 2X 250w MH and 2X 39w t5 attinics. Been running for almost a year, 120 lbs of live rock.

parameters are all good...


I purchased a pair of black captive bred ocellaris clowns, and I'd like to get an anemone that will host the clowns.

Seeing how anemones can be tricky and toxic, can anyone recommend one that won't move around too much, and one that the clowns will most likely eventually adapt to?

I just picked up a pair of black ocellaris yesterday and they don't even know my bubble anemone exists. With that being said I would still recommend a bta or an h. crispa, but since you have excellent lighting you can try one of their natural hosting anemones such as ritteris, gigantea carpets, or mertens carpets if you can find the latter two. The trick with those three anemones are finding one in good shape. They will all stop moving once they find a place they are comfortable in.

Mine are hosted by a Blue Haddoni. Don't expect anything overnight.

Back when I had my pair (( the female killed the male, then I sold the female )) they were hosted by two LTAs.

Do you have a sand bed?

Well its lights out on my aquarium and my ocellaris were still not hosting so i decided to try and help them out. I noticed they chose their sleeping quarters close to the anemone so i took a flash light and shined it on the anemone. 20 minutes later both clowns were hosting .

You used a picture in a book to make your clowns realize they can use the anemone as a host? That's genius! lol.. Can't believe it worked. Anyhow, my clowns look just like yours. Seller also mentioned that they come from Australia...

I do have a sandbed, 2-3 inches. Here are pics of my tank a few months ago when it was almost empty.
