I'm looking for a pair of clowns for an upcoming tank. I want something rare, so can you guys suggest mr something? They will be the only fish probably

Are you looking for designer clowns like picassos and snowflakes or are you more interested in rare species of clownfish like Mccullochi and Latz?

Personally im a big fan of onyx percula, full onyx. Which would include the dorsal fin being black as well. Seems like they are hard to find with the dorsal fin being black.

Snowcassos, picassos wyoming whites and other designer fish are not rare but good looking ones are. A lot of the ones that are offered especially at the lfs are of lower grade then what you will find on the internet. The better the look the higher the price. I believe someone quoted $200, that sounds about right for one decent looking designer clown. Make sure you see what your buying first because really no two are alike. There are variations as to what one person considers a snowcasso and another a picasso. If your going to buy a designer clown, figure out what you like and do a lot of research about what the industry expects that fish to look like. See if it fits your stadards and see if its worth it to you. Omansens and mucholoci are incredibly expensive and are so hard to get ahold of. I know I mispelled those names. You will pay in the thousands for these fish.

expensive does not equal rare... I have designer clowns and rare clowns.. I know which take more patience to acquire.. And I would never buy pair I did not believe to be excellent broodstock..

Tricinticntis are only about $100 a pair, however they are relatively rare in the hobby. Black Faced Platinums (Panda Plats, as I like to call them).. More common in the hobby and upwards of $800..

This is mine, all fins are black... There are lots of similar melanistic platinum variants..

I prefer the wild type rarities.. But could help to pull the trigger on these ;)

i would personally go designer since they are typically all tank raised and much hardier there are tons of different kinds available now since there are tons of companies producing them. Sustainable aquatics has some really cool one but im not sure where to get them online and apparently since Im a biz i can't sell them to ya but they might be able to tell you who can

survival for oscellaris and percula that are wild caught is only estimated to be around 5% ;-) trust me I have lost a lot of em

The Oman ones aren't designer, plus they are impossible to get as the king of oman won't allow their capture. Plus there aren't too many to begin with.

The new ORA dominos are pretty cool, as are the aforementioned platinums. As for purebreds, true Sebaes are very difficult to find. Not the Clarkiis that they pass of as Sebaes, but real ones from the Saddleback complex.
