Pair of Darwin Ocellaris sleeping separately?

I have 2 Darwin Ocellaris, they were purchased together as a pair but I am not certain that they are a true mated pair. They are still very young, I'm do not know age but they are 1 1/4" to 1 1/2" long. The smaller one appears to be the male, he shakes or flutters when the larger shows signs of aggression, (although I have never seen them fight they get along good). The larger (female?) is much more active, she is all over the tank and very territorial. The smaller is much more peaceful and swims slower. He coasts around never in a hurry and they often swim together as well. The female bites me every single time I put my hand in the tank, which I hear is common. The first several nights I had them they slept together but now they sleep separately and have there own corners. My tank is 29 long so it's not that large and the only other fish I have is a pair of scissortail gobies. All fish and invertebrates get along very well, it is a peaceful tank.

Is it possible they are not a true pair and are both females? They seem to be getting along other than there sleeping habbits. Thanks for the help!
