I am trying to decide on purchasing either two false Perculas or two Tomato Clowns. It would be two juvenile tank bred fish. I had a beautiful Tomato Clown 20 years ago so I am leaning in that direction. This will be for my 30 cube which only has a Royal Gramma in there now. In a few months the clowns will most likely be transferred to the 400 gallon. I worry about aggression with the Tomato Clowns. From what I hear they can be a little aggressive. Is this true? I never experienced this with the one I had but I would like to hear from others who have kept this fish. Thanks.

In smaller tanks they can be downright evil, but if they are going into the 400, then there should be plenty of room for everyone. Iwouldnt worry about the aggression in a tank that size. If you want the tomatoes then go for it. If you end up wanting to keep the fish in the 30 then I would stick with the ocellaris.

tomato or melanopus. As stykthyn said, if they stay in the 30 you don't want to add other fish with similar habits.

I have two small tomatos in a 20 with a BTA, they are very, very protective of the area the BTA is. Granted it is about half the tank, but even if I hav e my hand in there to clean they attack my hand. I dont have any other fish in the tank, they would probalby kill anything I add.

My tomato and my royal gramma get along just fine but she is a terror towards any other fish with similar coloration and shape.

id pick tomoatos. I have no reson behind it other than there uniqueness and attitude. just like em alot :)
