Pair of Ocellaris.....No more host

Hello:

I just recently upgraded to a custom built 180-gl. tank and have only stocked with sps's. My problem is I had to ditch my 5 year old and enormous RTBA. This thing was literally 20" in diameter. The LFS could not believe the size when I brought it in for consignment.

Anyways, my nice pair of Ocellaris now have no more host. Is this a problem? It bums me out to see them swimming around in open water when they spent every waking minute in the RTBA.

Can someone offer me some guidance if this is a problem? Also, while I have your attendance, what is a good anemone for a 100% sps tank?

Many thanks and I look forward to any/all input.......

They'll be fine without a host. Myself, even though I love anemones, I wouldn't put one in an all sps tank. Too much can go wrong if the nem wanders

Well there isnt anything you can do about them wanting their anemone! Its not a problemthey dont have a host, they are just a bit confused.

I think a sand dwelling anemone is good for SPS tanks as they dont climb the rocks!

What about a Ritteri anemone. I know very hard to keep, but I have seen three hsows tanks that are all sps and the Ritteri is posing no issues to the corals. My RTBA tentacles where into literally every coral in reach....

It can be done, and the majority of people do it. I was just saying that personally I wouldn't. It's more of a commentary on my faith in things going wrong. Just my thoughts on it.

If I was to do it, the nem would go in first to make sure it was settled, I would go with a sand dweller, and add the sps last.

I've had the impression that carpet nems don't walk (is that true?), you could get a nice red or blue one, but they are expensive. The green carpets are cheaper.
