pairing a maroon clown

I have a 3" maroon clown and I would like to try to introduce a smaller one to "hopefully" create a mating pair. Has anyone succesfully done this and if so do you have any advice?

3 inches is still kind of small, let it grow another inch or so and introduce a small juvie around 3/4 inches. this will be your best bet.

One technique I read about for pairing maroons was to either make a divider for the tank or use something like a hang on breeder to put the new clown in so the established one can see it, but they can't physically interract. After a couple days, introduce the new, smaller clown. If they fight excessively, separate them again and try the next day. If this doesn't work after three days, it's probably not going to work. I found out too late exactly how difficult maroons can be to breed, but I really like mine, so once she grows up a bit more (about 2" now), I'll probably try to find her a mate, so I'm doing as much research as I can now. Let us know how it goes if you give it a try.

do it now. get a 1" or 1.25" and place in tank for at least a few days in specimen container. observe both behaviors and if current 1 seems settled let other go. do u have any anenomes?

*very interested* Im wondering the same about my single (very mean) maroon. i would love to get another one in there.

whats an anemone got to do with it? my single maroon is hosting a bubble tip. bites me everytime i go near it.

because if he had an anenome,i would think the clown in his tank would be preoccupied w/ it instead of chasing new addition 24/7. better chance of pairing IMO w/ anenome in tank.

Ok then it leads me to my next question....

I get another, real small maroon.... I have to quarentine it since I have a fish in my tank already(the maroon)... I qa. it for 4-6 weeks, then try to put it in the main tank... and it doesent work, then what? The thought of ick just tweeks me out, had a wipeout once and im still a newbie basicly, tho sucking up info like a vaccume

try and remove and repeat. if not 50/50 chance. make sure 1 u get for 1 in tank is no more than 1/2 the size. i just tried to pair 2 up. seemed ok for first week then the 1 alittle smaller was kicked out RBTA and went MIA few days later. i will not try until this 1 is another 1."
