Pairing Latz?

Looks like I'll be getting another pair of wide band clowns.
I have read that the males can be as big as the females and wonder how to know if it's a true pair or just putting 2 fish together by size? I want to try to get them spawning but if the smaller fish were juvi's, wouldn't that be a better way to go?

I found out that the traditional way of pairing Latz is with a big female and a smaller juvi. The reason I say that is that I had what I thought was a similar sized pair, which was in fact two females that were compatible. I later happen to get a much smaller juvi and they were instant and constant friends instead of the old pair liking each other on a part-time basis

I was thinking that by getting 2 smaller ones, I'd end up with a mated pair as they aged, but if they were collected as a pair in the wild, tough call.

get one big and one small. i've heard a few stories where someone will get a "pair" and they end up being 2 females. i started with one small juvi and one large female. they bonded from the start and are still doing great.

I think that's how they will be paired, so I'll pick a pair, at least I've got my pick of the pairs coming, it was rotten to loose the pair a month ago.

How did they figure out it was actually two females? Only way I know of is laying eggs and to date I have only heard of one american, one European and one Australian getting a pair to lay eggs.
