Pairing Mandarin Dragonets

ShrimpChipGal -- my female spotted looks a lot like yours -- she has a lot more orange on her than my male, although my male is about twice her size. And my female gets all bloated w/ eggs the way that yours appears in that video! I love the spotteds, definately one of my favorite fish.
They are indeed just adorable. The color difference is really quite amazing, too. :)

Is there any other way to tell I just introduced a juvinile male I'm sure and my male started by displaying then attacked the other and when ever he clocked it he attacked! The newbie is goin bck tomorrow why are females hard to come across??

Argh now I want a spotted mandarin. Can you mix them with psychedelics?

Nope. I tried to put a pair of psychedelics in with my spotted pair and they killed my spotted male. I was able to catch the female before she got killed too. 450g tank so I thought they would have enough room but it didnt work.

That's a shame I managed to get a definite female from Los today exchanged it but he is still very agressive she is tiny in comparison and he hunts her out he's so fat aswell compared to her

So my husband has waited years to get a bonded pair of mandarin. Completely lucked out that we finally found a pair of spotted mandarin at Lfs. Put in our 300+ system and they were doing great! This was last weekend. Long story short we didn't see the female yesterday, we looked everywhere, and hubby found her in the overflow last night. He's beside himself upset. First for the unfortunate loss of life, second bc he feels his dream pair can be no longer. Any advice on how to go from here? We have a pair of bonded and spawning clownfish that we paired in the tank, how different is it to bond mandarin? Is it possible or are we asking for more loss of life in the tank by trying to do so. I know not to mix with green mandarin, but not much more about their pairing, etc.
Please help!!

Males have a spiked dorsal fin, females "rounded" dorsal fin. Females are uncommon since they are collected less frequently due to coloration disadvantage.
