pairing maroon clown fish

I have had a female maroon clown in my 55 gallon tank for like 3 months now and I decided to get a male fore her. He is much smalled then her.

We got it earlier today and put it in a species tank for a while. She ignored him...even when she saw him, she just swam away. So we decided it was safe to put him in. She ignored him until he came over to the anemone...then she attacked. He has been doing the submissive shiver and even trying to do the little kiss thing maroons do but she is still being aggressive when he gets near the anemone.

My question is how long does it usually take before she gives him a break?

I don't have an answer, but just today; I'm attempting my first pairing of two maroons. I've had my female for two years now, and she's a mean one! She's 3.5" to 4", and he's maybe 1.5". I've got him in one of those clear bath containers with the suctions cups. He just above her. She's watching from her anemones, but has mostly ignored him. I'm a bit nervous about releasing him to suffer her wrath. Is your female physically attacking the newcomer?

Reefer 421, did your female accept the little guy? This morning I moved the container with my small male lower in the tank so the female could get a good look at him. She started checking him out, showing no aggression. Finally, he swan over the top of the container and joined her in the anemones. She has readily accepted him and is now making sure he doesn't stray too far.

The good news... Mine has done the same. There was some attacking fromt he female. He has no ripped fins, but it looks like she did take a few scales off one side, but she has since accepted him. She fought him away from the anemone for a few hours then she started just kinda pushing him away and he continued his shivering. He is now allowed in the anemone for the most part and she is protecting him. It is so cute because they do what looks like kissing each other on the cheek.

The bad news... I bought a second beautiful RBTA for him and it decided it like the back side of my rock work. I have a powerhead giving him some extra current on his foot to get him to come back to the front side, but he does not seem to mind. I guess if anyone wants to see him, they are going to have to peak around the rock.

That's great news! It is really fascinating watching a pair of clowns. I've had my share of anemone adventures. I wouldn't try to move the anemone; they're just too easy to damage, but I'm sure there are some techniques for doing it.
