Pairing Misbar Maroon Clowns

Meet Ms. Barr!

She is an ORA gold stripe maroon clown. She's grown to about 2" in the few months I've had her. She was listed as a regular maroon on the order, and I've had my eye out for another mis-bar to pair her with since.

I was browsing in a store I don't normally shop at, and saw a tank full of tiny baby maroons, with a mis-bar! I picked out the healthiest little one. Mr. Barr is about an inch long, and will be in quarantine for a bit. I'm going to try to pair them up, though I know it will be difficult.

*I have no intention of breeding.* I just want a pair, and I want them both to be mis-bars. I was hoping to find another gold stripe mis-bar, but nothing has popped up around town. From what I've read, the only difference is where they are found in the wild, but both of these are captive bred anyway.

I know maroons can be difficult to pair. I've heard that a drastic size difference is a good thing, but the little guy is so tiny I'm worried. He's in quarantine, for now.

My plan is to put the male in a small kritter keeper and let them stare each other down. It's the small one, about 7" x 4.5" x 5.5" with a vented lid. I'm not sure if it will be suitable to leave him in it for a few days, or if I should put him back in the QT tank after a few hours of time in the DT.

If anyone has any tips or advice, I'd appreciate it.

No one has any tips on pairing maroons that were not purchased around the same time?

I'll ask in the general discussion forum too. I'm worried that the kritter kreeper is too small to keep him in (inside the DT) for any length of time as the female vents her anger.
