Pairing perc with ocellaris possible?

I've got a 1" clown in my 30g, I believe s/he's an ocellaris but could be wrong. Tonight I've been trying to research how to tell percs from oc's, but it's hard to get the little guy to stay still long enough to snap a clear pic or count the dorsal spines. S/he does appear to have a bit of a dark ring around the eyes, which I understand is something common to ocellaris clowns.
I bought another baby recently in the hopes of pairing the two. The new fish is in quarantine ATM, and I noticed a difference between him/her and the clown in my 30g - this clown has brighter eyes, with no ring. I have a feeling I've just bought a true perc, rather than another ocellaris. Is it possible they can be paired, or should I keep them separated?

i have an ocellaris/perc pair... works out well except for the fact that they are juvi and havent "offically" paired yet... the ocellaris is reaching the sexual maturity age (a little over a year old now) and is clearly the more dominant one so she will eventually take the baby into submission... lately more and more i have been seeing them do the famous shake move that implies that a pair bond has been made, but only time will tell because they hardly ever touch each other and often swim in the general area but seperate (i say that because my tank is 5.5 gallons so even if they are trying to avoid each other there is really only so much space that exists.. more to come on this later as my new custom 20 gallon cube is drying in my room right now)

Yippee! Good stuff, thanks for the replies. Maybe I'll end up with an interesting looking pair, can't wait to see these guys grow up :D
