Pajama cardinal

Every time I turn around it seems as though my pajama cardinal has a mouth full of eggs. Can someone point me in a direction to find info on how to successfully raise them? Also, is this harmful to the male since he doesn't eat during this time?

Thanks!!

I was just browsing the forum for the exact same answer. I've read a few article's and now on the forums. Talking with a couple local fish store guys, I got the advice that they have to be in their own tank. Also I was told it's a must to feed live food. One of the articles I read stated the tank should be at least 30 gallons but I think that is for survival rate of the fry. I would definitely like to hear others experiences also.

As far as your feeding question I don't know if it's harmful really. The males normally hold the eggs for something like 20+ days. If your not getting hatched eggs I would suspect you have the same problem I'm running into. I never meant to breed these critters but they are mating and the male isn't getting fed enough to fast for the required time for the eggs to hatch. Unfortunately he then spits them out so he can eat.

Sorry for the long post. Hope you found some helpful information.

First off they are not like banggai cardinals, they only hold their eggs for about a week.
Accordining to Matt wittenwrich's book you feed them small strain Rotifers until days 10-12 then you can add newly hatched artemia. It also says adding Copepods will greatly increase your chance of success. They hatch at about 3.4-3.9 mm.
