Hello,

From years I want to have Pakistani Butterfly, but I am very reluctant as on the internet there are mix information about the care lever. Like on live aquaria, they says it Moderate, but on the other web sites she is define as difficult. Has anyone experience this Beautiful Fish.

Thank you,

Beautiful and fascinating fish. I've had mine about a year now.
I lost the first one in QT. It got ich and I was not experienced enough to handle it properly.
The second one was a breeze. I made sure he was eating at the LFS, then did a full TTM protocol with Prazipro. He spent the next 4 weeks in QT, where I made sure he was eating flake, pellet and frozen.
He is now in my FOWLR, with a number of other butterflies and angels.
Be warned, they cam be agressive towards ALL other fish, larger or smaller, especially at feeding time. But I have not seen mine do any real damage, just maintaining the pecking order.

Beautiful and fascinating fish: Agreed :inlove:
I have never done the TTM. I understand that each time the tank is change the water should be fresh. But my concern is, that
1- when I first started my tank I run the cycle for months by adding the dead shrimp into it. So during TTM the water should be cycled?
2- Do you have to acclimate the fish every time you transfer.

You said that you have one another butterfly in your tank, and I thought butterfly is not compatible with butterfly.

And just curious, what do you feed to your butterfly, specially Pakistani Butterfly.

For TTM details, see this post by Snorvich. It is actually very easy to do and I have had great success with this method. http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2388428

But to answer your questions directly.
1. So during TTM the water should be cycled? - No, The fish is only there for three days. Use freshly made saltwater and then just toss when you move the fish to the next tank.

2. Do you have to acclimate the fish every time you transfer. - Any time you move a fish from one tank to another you should make sure the temp and salinity are matched. I always set the next tank up the night before so the water is the same temp as the current tank.

As far as keeping multiple butterflies, it is recommended to keep only one per species in most cases, but multiple different species can co-exist in the tank is large enough.
Along with the Pakistani, I have a Declivis, Dot-Dash, Vagabond, Yellow Longnose, Heniochus and Yellow Head in my 350.

My tanks get a variety of foods. Ocean Nutrition Red and Green in both flake and pellet form as well as Nori from the supermarket.
I use San Francisco Bay frozen Mysis, Brine, Carnivore Cuisine and Angel & Butterfly cubes.
The Pakistani really likes the A&B cubes and devours clams on the half shell.

I put the return pump in 'feed' mode to prevent food from going down the overflow. I leave the power heads on since they help distribute food throughout the tank, even though they have a feed mode as well.
