Pale brown corals!!!

Double check your PO4, there has been know bad batches of hanna reagent. Also how often do you clean your glass. A rule of thumb ive heard is every three days is around 0.03-0.08 PO4.

Hanna already sent me two new batches of reagent every one of them reads 0.00

And I probably clean every 3-5 days depending on how chipper I feel

So it's accurate, I found my sps really responded to nightly feelings of oyster feast, another option.

With the margin of error on the checker I'm sure I have some po4. Anywhere from 0.00-0.03.

I just started coral frenzy last week. Only feeding it every 3 days. I have seen se better polyp extension but no colors popping

It takes months for corals to recover when they are pale........not weeks.

Get more snails if you are concerned about some film/hair algae.

A lot of people lose their way because they get so obsessed with a little algae.......... they put all their efforts into eliminating that and lose focus on what's important...........the corals.

Some algae growth is good............it's natural to have a spike in algae growth after removing your GFO. It will take time for the system to start a new balance........again think in months not weeks.

Once your coralline algae starts to thrive it will choke out a lot of the film algaes.

Put your Hanna away for a month or so and just let the tank adjust.............watch the system and be patient.

I got a bottle of Marc Weiss coral boost from a local. She said she wasn't using it but I should give it a try. I don't want to dose it since I have no idea of it is snake oil or if it is good

+1

I am guilty of this myself. I have very few snails left (thank you hermits or the fact that i just dont have much algae for them to feed on) but the sandbed is almost clean as can be and no nuisance algae, but more importantly pale and very little color coral. I took my carbon and GFO offline and getting back to just the basics.

Not to de rail but what's up with the bad regents?with Hanna ? I use them and get zero a lot something I should know?

do you have a local reef club that has a par meter? my club has one that members can use with just a refundable deposit..

Imo anything mark Weiss is crap with a Capitol C so I would just stick to the coral frenzy and maybe make some homemade coral food.. Homemade is the way to go you know exactly what goes in and can get most of the stuff live from a local Asian market. I have noticed great improvements in my coral and fish health since making my own food over the last couple years but I also feed randomly coral frenzy/reef roids on occasion just because I'm bored. But I can also go the route of its not needed if you have a healthy fish population( which I do but choose to ignore for no reason other than I like to feed the tank =).

Take big E's advice though it's not going to be weeks it's going to be months so patience is key and don't overdo it trying to rush for colors.

Reef angel also sells just the meter for par readings if you wanted to try the diy route.

Degibson84, you go see Than (that's his name) at Tidal Gardens. He is outside Akron. He is by no means an expert but he grows some amazing stuff. Plus he is a pretty helpful guy. Check out his YouTube Videos. He is a local you could bounce ideas off of.

So after a few months of failing at regenerating colors. I went back to my original GFO and using the ATS. I then started feedings a little heavier utilizing an auto feeder as well. I have more recently started dosing 5ml of acro power 2x a week. Some SPS have started getting color back and other corals are exploding with new growth.
