pale rainbow monti

What could have caused my rainbow monti frag to turn pale. It was sitting about 5 inches down. Tank is lite with an ati sunpower that is hung about 11 inches over the tank so coral was 16 inches down. Calcium between 400-420, alk about 10, and mag is 1300. Mag was low at about 1000 and I brought it up over 3 week period. Wanted to know if dosing or lights could be causing the pale colors, not white but just faded. I have had frag for three weeks and the light has been on the tank for about 2 months. I changed from a nova pro and have not moved light from that height because I also faded a cats paw and didn't want to take a chance lowering the light in case that is the cause. Any ideas as to the possible cause would be great.

ati sunpower is a whole lotta light. I would favor starting the frag towards the bottom of the tank and moving it up slowly. what type of lighting is in the tank the frag came from?
what are you dosing?

I was dosing teck m to raise mag. The frag came from a tank lite with halides not sure of the wattage. I have a feeling that I won't be lowering this light at all. Maybe when I upgrade to my 120. Will the coral regain its color? It is not bleached just pale.

Low potassium can cause the blur t fade too. Have you done a decent water change?

I run a 8 bulb T5 Tek light and I have my rainbow 3" below the water line in the middle of the tank with great color. I find that they want as much light as you can feed them. They also take a bit of time to adjust to the tank, so be patient.

The picture doesn't show the intense blue but it's about as good as I can do.
