would anyone have a good idea why all the palys in a tank would close, and remain closed for 3 days now. They seem to have a white rubble on them, although i am pretty sure they use that to build their stocks. Also their bases on soom are now black. i'll have a pic tomorrow.

Only the palys closed, no zoanthids.

my ph did drop, but i raised it back up again, and everything else in the tank was fine.

sorry for the wait. Notice the weird black stuff on the bases. Hope someone can help.

water chemistry would be my guess. Button polyps, like in the picture, can endure most anything. I would check Kh since your PH was low. good luck

Agreed, button polyps seem impossible to kill off so if they are unhappy something is off (unless of course it's due to some kind of pest).

the Ph did drop, but that was fixed and the Alk was always in check.

any more ideas on what the black stuff is?

no clue, but id watch out for zoa eatin nudi's or snails...
