Pan world pumps (100px)

If you want dead silent, the Poseidon/Velocity pumps are it. Literally have to touch it to see if it is running.

I can second that - my Velocity T4 was extremely quiet - would have thought that would be fine for a living room. The Eheim pumps are also very quiet. Red Dragons are even quieter but more $$.

The Vortechs seem to make a variable amount of noise, but definitely enough to be a bit of a bother. Tunzes are quieter.

As far as build quality and durability, the Pan World is superb - mine has been running 6 years nonstop. (will give it a rest and take it apart when the backup one I ordered arrives).

Just FYI, any of the Askoll based return pumps on the market will not do very well in your situation. They are all flow biased pumps, and therefore don't maintain flow at head well. They are however dead silent :)

If you are looking for boat-loads of flow at high head and quiet, the Sequence Marlin would be the one to look at. When you get into lots of flow from pressure rated pumps, you are going to see the wattage jump significantly....it's just the way they are designed and the size motors they need to push against those pressures.

Thanks for sharing. The T3/T4 lookes like a nice quite pump but some of the reviews claimed you get a alot of heat transfer. I do have a vortech but it is broken.

I have heard good things about reeflow but my overflow can only handle up to 1100 GPH, the smallest unit was 1440 GPH. I would hate to have to crank the the unit down so much

The velocity T3 is almost the same as blueline 40HD/panworld 100PX. Perhaps the T3 may be the one.

The Velocity pumps are water cooled. They add ~ the same heat as a similar wattage submersible would. If you have a setup that runs hot already, its probably not the pump for you. Stick with an air cooled external. If the system doesn't run hot, they are great pumps. As I posted earlier, I am using one because of the "free" heat it adds. It saves electricity by reducing the amount of time my heaters have to kick in.

The system is 120G display in wall tank build with adjoining fish room/closet. I will try fan cooled + a/c vent above tank and see how it goes. Inplan to use at least two 250 MH maybe 3 250MH to light the 4' by 2' by 2'tank. I should have at least 60-100 more watts of maxis running gfo/phoban. Since I am planning to use fan evaporative cooling the noise may be a mute subject while the lights are on.
Even on my 54G I can tell the difference in temperature with all the maxis and lighting running at the same time.

I guesse Quite = tunze, chiller, and velocity T3
