I've had this camera for a couple of months now and I really like it. It's the most "advanced" camera I've owned and I'm by no means a very good photographer. Here's a few shots anyway:

Thanks, they aren't the greatest, you will see much better on this board. But they are better than anything I've taken before with other cameras, and I like them. No I don't use a "macro" lens.

Wow Dave, those are shots are beautiful. Looks like I made a good choice with the camera. Anyway, I've been trying without much luck to take pictures of moving fish, could you explain how you took the shots of the seahorse and sailfin tang? Thanks.

Again thanks for the comments, but you guys are too kind.

Those two photos are the only ones with some PP NR, therefore you can't see the exif data because I'm using the free community version of Noiseware.

The seahorse was easy because it stays pretty still and it was right next to the glass. Even still it has blown highlights. I dont' have any real PP photo software, I just use Picasa2.

As for the Sailfin, that is one out of maybe 40 shots that was halfway worth keeping. If you ask around and people answer honestly, they will tell you they take many shots in order to get a good one. The key with moving fish, I think, is an adequate shutter speed, probably at least 1/60th. I don't know really, as I've been doing a lot of trial and error. So hopefully one of the more experienced photographers will chime in on this topic.

Dave, I got the camera today Could you please tell me which setup you used when you were taking those macro shots?

Thanks

PM sent, but to answer your ?. When I first got the camera, I primarily shot Aperature Priority, which include most if not all of the above shots. Most like at f2.8. In A priority, the camera selects the shutter speed. Most of these were fairly slow shutter speeds, thus a tripod was necessary and used. I also use the 2 second timer so that pushing the button does shake the camera. One more thing to mention is the WB was set for the lighting on my tank.

Hope this helps, just read through the manual with camera in hand and start shooting, the more you shoot the more comfortable you will get the camera as well as familiar with it's ins and outs.
