Does anyone have a PAR meter that's close to Clyde that would be willing to come out and give me some readings. ?? Willing to pay or send home with a coral as a thanks... always free beer or mixed drinks too...

Thanks Greg

If you can't find someone to lend you one, there's a trend on some of the planted FW aquarium forums to modify cheap lux meters to read PAR. It's pretty easy and within a few percent accuracy from what people are saying, as long as your lighting is similar in spectrum to what the unit is calibrated to. Going price for a modded unit seems to be around $50. Much more reasonable than the $250+ for a "real" meter.

Here's an example:

DWZM, do "real" PAR meters suffer from the same problem of being less accurate the farther away from a specific spectrum?
