Paracentropyge multifasciata

Here are a few crappy pics i snapped of the fish in the Reef!!! I wanted to get all 3 together sooo bad but there is just no way that is gonna happen. the 2 bigger ones are always out. But the baby stays in the rocks. I see him all the time, but he just doesn't swim out in the open!!! He is the smallest fish in teh tank filled with 7" fish at the biggest!!!

Im telling you Kev, they are So much fun to watch!

I just cant wait for them to get their boogie on!

So did you get another Venustus???

Made sure you capture those action on vid.

No, I didn't but got something else that I've been debating on for over 2 months.

Nice picture's!!! Mine is still doing good. They are fun to watch swim upside down in caves and pick on the liverock. I have plenty of tunecates to pick on for him. He's eating brine and small mysis.

Kev - I will! I've been thinking of taking a video of the tank anyway!

Oh, PM Sent!!!

Brain - Thank you very much man!!!

Creetin - That is great to hear a few are being kept alive!!! all 3 of mine are putting on weight which is a very good thing and they are starting to compete for teh more meaty foods in the evening!

Mine also spend the entire day picking for food!!!

WOW! Good pics & great job! Nice to see them doing so well. Do the other Angels take any notice of them at all?

Matthew

Thanks Diana and Kevin!

Matthew - The others dont seem to notice them much. The regal will give them a chase every now and again but nothing bad at all!!!

Then I think you may be one of the few that has good luck with Paracentropyge sps. angels. Man, please keep me updated, for some unacountable reason I've developed a passion for the Hard-to-Keep pygmy/Dwarf angels! LOL

Matthew

I have an example in a 20 long now .... he's looking relaxed (but not eating anything I give hime) and there is a shedload of liverock in there. I would be confident, but he looks like he has Crypt to me (or will get it).
Do I leave him be or put him in another tank and treat? I've put Centropyge thro' copper successfully before, but am loathe to try it in this case.

And does anyone know the bottom of the temperature range for these gys?

HI!

First, i would get the fish into a Quarantine tank. Then I would start a round of Copper for 14 - 21 days and in the last week of Copper Treatment, Do a 1 week round of Prazi Pro! Another thing you can try is an 8-10 minute FreshWater Dip. Just be sure to match the temp and pH in the Fresh!

I would also recommend trying a very large variety of foods to find out what it likes. And having some live rock ot pick on is a great idea, just be sure to take it out when you start copper, otherwise the inverts will die and cause an ammonia spike!

As far as bottom temp is considered, i am comfortable dropping it to 72 if needed. These fish are found a deeper on teh reef in caves....

Wayne--I like Ryan's treatment suggestions. As for bottom temperature, I don't know how much deeper the Multi is compared with Venustus or deepwater Coral Beauty but I've both in 68-70F without any problem.

The reason I ask is that while raising temp is 'a bad thing' with C. irritans there is a bottom temperature limit. I've fixed C. irritans on a Potters by just keeping it at 66 for a month, but that's a fish that can handle those temps naturally.

I'm going to try to get it feeding at least for a day or two before I treat the multibar. I am still hopeful - it doesn't look an inherently bad fish.

Good to hear! A trio must be fun to watch. I was really worried about him getting picked on, But so far everone ignores him. He was picking on a coralbeauty when i seen him at a lfs so i knew he would stand a better chance in my tank personality wise.
Your tank looks great.
