hehe, that's awesome.

When getting a SCUBA cert a fews years ago in Aruba. I remember kneeling in about 20' of water during the lesson and watching the parrot fish go by. I saw what came out...and DING DING DING!

I shall never forget where I was when I learned where sand comes from ;)

That's a great looking stock of fish, I especially like the Naso. I wish mine had a nice black face like that.

Any idea why you've got cyano growing?

Right now my SPS tank gets most of my attn as it should.

I'll let you know when I start it.

how big is the clown trigger??!?!?!

The Clown Trigger is about 10 inches nose to tail.

I just got him about 2 weeks ago.

When he is full and stretching his triggers he is about 8 inches tall.

The cyano is because that tank is my QT/hospital tank,
it has copper and formalin 3 in it.

All the fish will be in a FOWLR tank soon, except the emp angel I am going to continue his treatment a little longer.

I'm sure you probably know all about what you're doing, but just in case, have you done the FW dip routine with the Emperor? You should be able to kick the fluke problem within just 2 or 3 days.

Start a smaller easier to maintain QT tank, like a 29g or something you have sitting around. Move him from the current QT into a temp/pH adjusted bath (I use a 5g bucket) with 1-2ml per gallon of 37% formalin for up to 5 minutes, you should literally see the flukes jump off and die. Put him into your new QT tank. Do this once a day for 3 times and he should be fluke free. He really should be fluke free after the first dip, but depending on many factors he might retain a couple.

After three days of a FW dips, with the first one at least containing formalin, he should be completely fluke free.

I probably wouldnt do all 3 days worth of dips with formalin, just the first one, but that is up to you.

I've only had 2 experiences with flukes, but both times I was having a hard time with the continuous formalin treatments in QT and went with the FW dip containing formalin and almost immediately all flukes were destroyed.

Might be worth contemplating at least. I think it's a lot less stressful on the fish to get over the treatment quickly rather than be continually bathed in toxic chemicals for weeks at a time. The nice thing is that after the FW dip, if you have him in his own QT you can have good water quality and no toxins in there, so he can relax and get healthy.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes
That is my plan of attack,
it is just that the tank there going into is not ready yet as I have not moved my sharks in there new home yet.

I know it is confusing when you have like 10 tanks!!!

Thanks or the advice though,

Chris

No problem.

The longer you let your Emperor sit with flukes, the worse his chances of recovery are, just FYI. That isnt one of the things I'd let sit on one of my prize fishes for sure :)

He does not have flukes right now.
He was cured the I put some new fish in the tank and he got them again so I am retreating him now.

fwiw, fluke tabs have worked miracles for me twice. i love when an OTC product is simple and works. ****in flukes, they make me mad for some reason, i take it personal, no idea why... lol.

nice poop btw!!!!1 how about some puffer poop next? I bet that big puff in the pic can pollute a tank in a heartbeat. :o

Sorry I missed this thread! As we say in London, "That is a Proppa system" Reefer!!
I witness that "Sand Pooping" every day with my Golden Arothron. It never fails to amaze me how they are able to "Filter" the sand, and pass it through the way they do.
I am pleased to see that you are keeping a Semi-Mature Clown Trigger. The fish is now in its Prime in terms of beauty and behaviour. Relish every second of its Glory, Mother Nature excelled herself when she designed them.
Looking at your Clown Trigger, it is a Mirror image (Albeit smaller) of the Adult that I lost recently, due to it eating the silicone sealant, and blocking its intestines.

Thanks,

I have heard good things about fluke tabs I will have to try those.

That puffer is a baby compared to my Stellatus Puffer,
he is about 15 inches long and as big around as a grapefruit!!!

Do you have any pics of your clown trigger?

I am very happy with the clown I have I had been looking for one that size for about a year or two.

He is going to be moved from QT soon into his new home.
