Parrotfish

Parrotfish

I have a quoyi parrotfish in my SPS domininant reef ... And its one of my favorite fish.

That's like showing a titan trigger attacking a SCUBA diver's face and saying "This is why we don't keep triggerfish in our reefs" :rolleye1:

Yeah. That would definitely be disturbing to hear and see in a reef.

I don't know what species that was in the video, but most reefers keep either the Scarus quoyi or the Scarus taeniopterus which don't get that large. I, myself have the Scarus taeniopterus, and it does love to peck at the rocks, it's not large or strong enough to do any damage. It also doesn't touch coral. It will carefully peck at the rock around the coral, but for some reason it avoids the coral itself. One of my favorite fish in my mixed reef...

Thanks for sharing...

My Quoyi does that all day long, but I never hear a noise even remotely close to that in the video. I will never not own a Quoyis, way too much personality and it is by far the most colorful fish I own. Everyone that comes over asks me "what is that fish" and it is always the parrotfish

I think it was referring to whatever species that was in the video. Obviously, most of us don't have a tank big enough for a fish like that.

And by the sounds of it, the Quoyis, & the Scarus don't make those sounds.

The video was a bit misleading...

Is a misconception about parrotfish ...
Most thing its a acropora muncher like the one on the video or the one from national geo and all tangs are reef safe, well Its not.
