Im sorry its not a good picture, but this fish is constantly moving.

What it looks like is circles on his body cut into his skin. There are more on the other side but he will not stop moving so it is hard (very hard) to take a picture.

What is this stuff?

I had some better luck with pictures. There are some other markings on fish.

Water parameters are excellent , test results in my sig.

Looks like some kind of parasite eating him. I have seen this for a while now (a couple of months) it heals and always comes back. I thought it was him scratching against substrate but I doubt that now.

As you can see it is on both sides of the fish, and there are some old scars that have healed (circular as well).

Those look like scratches.
External parasite bites look like holes. If you start to see small holes on his head, then it's likely to be parasites (probably non-ich, non-velvet). Metronidazole in a QT works well.

Hey m8.

Its odd that its the same pattern over and over again for a few months now. And its always on different spots.

Circular.

Do you find that odd?

BTW do you trade or work for BB? Ive been thinking about hooking one of those up but..... SO PRICEY! Still they come out with news before anyone.

id say it looks like someone is fighting with him as it apperars there are some scratches on him that look more like another tang could have done the rest also look like some sort of scratches. are there any onthe tang in the tank with him

Those don't resemble tang fight marks (which are either single punctures, or linear). I wouldn't rule out the maroon clownfish, they are very territorial. The scenario would be that the PBT tries to slip past the maroon to get at some area of algae, and every once in a while, gets tagged for its efforts. You'll likely NEVER actually see it happen - figure there are 24 hours in a day, and the bites take only seconds, and don't happen every day. To make it less likely, figure that any time you are watching the fish, they are watching you, and their behavoir changes.....just like kids in school when the teacher turns her back.
The upshot is that all of these lesions looked mostly healed, no sign of infection.

LOL. Funny, but true. Im starting to think thats exactly whats happening..... There is a brand new "bite mark" today. I wonder why he does'nt bite the other guys tho.

How big is the Maroon. That looks like a rather large bite. After looking at your stock list it must be the maroon. I've seen them bite fins, and their mates, but an actual bite on the side of a tang would be unusual. They can be pugnacious though.

Its not huge. I dont think they get that big. Its a few inches long.

The thing is the sailfin will show his whole body to other fish sometimes to look big. Maybe its the easiest target.

The bites, if thats what they are (and there have been around 30 in the last 4 months) are always on the body, and always that shape.
