PBT scenario help

Im thinking of adding a Powder blue tang to my tank. The fish Im looking at is 2" long. In my tank I already have some chromis and a 2" mimic tang. Will the tang combo be a problem? Anybody have experience with this combo?

Ive heard about these fish being agressive and that they should always be added last.

I dont plan on having other tangs in this tank (sure 2 tangs in a 75 is pushing it but Ill be upgrading to 180 gals in 2007) but I would like to add a swallowtail angel or possibly a small bunch of anthias.

Will these fish be likely to get picked on by the PBT, especialy because they will be added after or should I wait untill after all my fish have been added to add a PBT?

Thanks for sharing your hands on knowlege.

Its generally best to add the PBT last. He should be fine being that the mimic tang was there 1st. I have added fish after a PBT and most were fine. He did sometimes put my Ornate wrasse inline. Was more of a face off then a chase.

Just be sure to QT the PBT and acclimate him well. In my experience the PBT is only agressive with fish that challenge its dominance of the tank. Anytime i added another tang to the tank after him it was a 1 week battle. Ex: A blue hippo tang or a sailfin tang.

I have kept 2 tangs in a 75 gal in the past. The PBT will need to be added last. Only chance of success. I have since down sized back to a 75 gal and soon to be upgrading to a 120 gal setup.

My PBT in my 80 is a terror. He killed my Copper banded butterfly within a week after being put in. The tang was the last in and every one else had been in there for well over a year. I actually had a 270 on order when I got him and thought he would be fine till the upgrade but he is a real PITbutt! I just hope he chilles out in the 270 and he is beiong held out till all my other fish are aquired and put in awhile first. All fish are different but A PBT ussually has a bad rap in a smaller tank. :)
