yesterday i couldn't find my pbt. i thought maybe he was just hiding for a while but still felt something was wrong. after going with my incling i searched around the tank some more. there i found my pbt on the floor.

i know some of these fish are known to be jumpers...i have yet to read that the pbts do this. i guess it can happen to any of them. the crazy part is i have a hood which is about a foot high. i think it's nuts how he could have jumped that high.

yesterday was a bad day...in the morning i found my bta shredded in the powerhead

:rolleye1:

sorry for your loss i did not know that they were jumpers either im thinking of going with out a lid but the more i read about jumpers im scared to do so

Any fish *can* jump. Someone here on RC lost a lionfish that way!

What are the tankmates? Was it sick? How long had you had it?

whoa, i didnt know tangs or lion fish could get enough momentum to jump out. learn something new everyday

sorry for you loss, they are very beautiful fish

Im with SD on his line of thought... i have had a sick tang in the past that would dart around erraticly and act very very "twichy". there were no visiable parasites, but soon enough, he didnt jump, but was floating at the top of the tank (large Kole tang)

I agree something was bothering it. He either had a parasite or water quality or anothe tankmate was scaring him. They normally do not jump unless something is wrong... I would check the water quality... You said your bta got shredded... possibly poluting the water and cauising the fish to act erradically....

Agreed in that ANY fish can be a jumper. My roommate just lost his 4 yr old clownfish to that yesterday. Something was definitely up with it though. The other clown in the tank (they had been together for all four years) booted it out of the anenome, and it started hanging out at the top of the tank.

It stayed there for about two days, and then on its last day it wouldn't eat and it was breathing heavily. We found it later on the floor. :(

Fish can jump, and they can jump far and high if they want. My diamond goby took a leap, landing at least 4 feet from the tank somehow.
