PC bulbs= Clam?

Hi All:D
I have an 18 in. deep tank that I want to put a clam in. I have a 2 inch sand bed with 2 65watt bulbs over the tank. My tank is 30 inches, so there are 2 bulbs over the place where I would like the clam. I am willing to put it on a rock if necessary. Or is having a clam out of the question? I run one 03 bulb and 1 10,000K bulb. I have heard of people keeping Croceas for many years on this king of lighting in shalower tanks, but I would like a couple of opinions.
Thanks,
Vishboy

Well I have a derasa I kept under pcs and honestly while it stayed alive it never thrived. Now its under VHOs and it is really doing so much better. I would advise against it but in the end its your decision.

I would say it might be a strech for the low light clams.... deresa, squamosa, giga. But even a couple of inches under the water you would not have enough light for a crocea. Although, I too have heard those who have kept croceas under less, but I doubt they had a happy thriving clam.
Croceas are beautiful enjoy them but upgrade your lighting first.

Thanks

Thanks

Thanks guys. I am tyhinking about upgrading to HQI. Would 150 watts be enough? If I had to I could go to 250 watts. I know that I would have to have 10,000Kelvin bulbs for a clam, but would a lower K be better?
Thanks,
Vishboy

in a tank 18"deep 150w HQI MH 10k would be fine. at 30"long you will have dim spots on the ends. so 2- 150's would be better, or 1- 250w a little higher should cover the whole tank.

I would be ok with having shadowy spots on the sides, seeing as the brighter areas useually atract your attention more. How high could I hang the light and still get enough lighting to have the clam? My corals are okay, seeing as my acropora (sitting 6 inches from the lights) is ok. What clam would you recomend for a beginner, but still is attractive (ie- not brown)?
Thanks for all of the help,
Vishboy
