PC's good enough for all sofites

I had a ton of softies in my 90g under 4x65watt PC, should be fine. I even had a orange montipora digi at the very top of the rock pile, it did turn brown, but grew a ton.

I don't think it is enough light to really grow them well, you can keep them alive but even softies like light. I started out with 4 PC's then bumped it put to eight PC's on my 75 gallon and when all the lights were on the corals literally "grew" in front of my eyes. Prior to that they colored up nice, had nice size and reproduced. I thought I had it going on. When I added more light I saw a profound difference.
Now I've made the switch to a Marineland HQI and T5 fixture. The difference is huge again. Polyp extension on cabbage leathers and leathers, great flourescence when the HQI's are turned off. In short, provide more light you will love it and your corals!

i use to have a pc 24in they keep the softies alive but they dint grow much at all.weeks after i put my metal hiades on everything took off.if you have a short tank with not a lot of room from the surface to the sand beed they will do softies good
