Peacock in Glass?

It's fine, IMO. I doubt he'd pop it. If you want, you can put plexi glass on the bottom of the tank, to keep him from busting the bottom. It has excellent dimensions for a Peacock, too.

BTW, your profile picture is pretty horrific. lol

Thanks so much for the advice. Horrific?! It's a hot rod thing. You wouldn't understand. ;)

I say fine. I would put the plexi on the bottom. Also, DONT TEASE IT. Antagonizing it is a sure fire way to risk it popping the glass, and is generally mean anyway. :D

What do you recommend as far as flow in the tank? I was going to use some model Korallia. What about sand depth and composition? Is a cover for the tank a necessity?

I cover ALL of my tanks. You ever seen a mantis take a swim around the tank?(They do) You never know if they decide to get frisky, and accidentally fly out. I use glass over my tanks, but you can use egg crate- as long as the egg crate is weighted down, and the mantis is bigger than the holes, of course.

Not experienced enough on flow or sand to give advice...But, Peacocks can't handle bright lighting... Just in case you didn't know.

OK going in a little different direction. I have access to a 20 gallon acrylic all-in-one aquarium with 3/8" walls. The tank is only 10" tall and will be uncovered. Would this be adequate for a Peacock?

I understand that from the last reply my question was will the 10" height and no top be a problem? I stated that tank could be made longer just not taller at this point.

i'd say it's more than likely your mantis will wind up on the floor, they tend to dart around when swiming and could easly shoot right out of the tank.

nanoreef16g you’re a couple hours north of me, if your wanting tanks man I am still unloading some. I got a 40 breeder that’s coming down soon. It was for my Smithii but he’s going in a Nuvo 38 after he finishes his molt this week (grrr molting when I am trying to move him to a new tank). Mantis are funny I think he did his to me for a laugh. If your set on peacock then I think a 40 breeder is a hard tank to beat for size and floor space in its size range.

Also as a sailor and a car junkie I have to add this I like your Avatar.

Tundra, How much for the tank man? Thanks for the avatar love! My avatar used to be Rat Fink so I think we're on the same page.
